Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song

This is my favorite Christmas song. I could listen to it on loop all day til Christmas.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright,
Tiny tots with their eyes all a-glow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh,
And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it's been said
Many times, Many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

Kelly Clarkson - You Can't Win

If you go, they’ll say you’re following
If you don’t, then you’re too good for them
If you smile, you must be ignorant
If you don’t, what’s your problem?

If you’re down, so ungrateful

And if you’re happy, why so selfish?
And, you can’t win
No, you can’t win, no

The one who doesn’t quite fit in

Underdressed under your skin
Oh, a walking disaster
Every time you try to fly
You end up falling out of line, oh
You can’t can’t win, no

If you’re thin, poor little walking disease

If you’re not, they’re all screaming obese
If you’re straight, why aren’t you married yet?
If you’re gay, why aren’t you waving a flag?
If it’s wrong, you’re knowing it
If it’s right, you’ll always miss
You can’t win, no
You can’t win, no

The one who doesn’t quite fit in

Underdressed under your skin
Oh, a walking disaster
Every time you try to fly
You end up falling out of line, oh

You can’t can’t win, no

And you try, you try so hard

But it’s wearing on your heart
And you play, you play the game
But you pay, you pay for it
You can’t win, no
You can’t win no

If you speak, you’ll only piss ‘em off

If you don’t, you’re another robot
If you stop, they’ll just say you quit
If you don’t, you might lose your shit
You can’t win, no
You can’t win, no
You can’t win, nooo

The one who doesn’t quite fit in

Underdressed under your skin
Oh, a walking disaster
Every time you try to fly
You end up falling out of line, oh
You can’t can’t win, no

I can’t win...

The one who doesn’t quite fit in

Underdressed under your skin
Oh, a walking disaster
Every time you try to fly
You end up falling out of line, oh
You can’t can’t win, no

Food

This is my first try at mobile blogging. We'll see if it works. Lol. We are going to my mom's for Thanksgiving. It's a trip we make every year. And, every year we stop at Cracker Barrel on the way. Here's what I always get to eat: chicken fried chicken with white gravy, mashed potatoes with white gravy, hashbrown casserole and carrots.

Rihanna - We Found Love ft. Calvin Harris

Loving this song lately and the video is pretty good, as well.

Yellow diamonds in the light
And we're standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine
What it takes to come alive

It's the way I’m feeling I just can't deny
But I've gotta let it go

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

Shine a light through an open door
Love and life I will divide
Turn away cause I need you more
Feel the heartbeat in my mind

It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny
But I’ve gotta let it go

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

Yellow diamonds in the light
And we're standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine...

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

Favorite Movie Scenes

This is the boom box scene from "Say Anything." I think it is one of the best movie scenes of all time, in a romantic movie anyway.

Beyonce Knowles - Best Thing I Never Had

Dedicated to my podmate :-)

"Best Thing I Never Had"

What goes around comes back around (hey my baby)
What goes around comes back around (hey my baby)
I say what goes around comes back around (hey my baby)
What goes around comes back around...

There was a time
I thought, that you did everything right
No lies, no wrong
Boy I must've been out of my mind
So when I think of the time that I almost loved you
You showed your ass and I, I saw the real you

Thank God you blew it
I thank God I dodged the bullet
I'm so over you
So baby good lookin' out

[Chorus:]
I wanted you bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
You turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
And I'm gon' always be the (best thing you never had)
Oh yeah, I bet it sucks to be you right now

So sad, you're hurt
Boo hoo, oh, did you expect me to care?
You don't deserve my tears
I guess that's why they ain't there
When I think realize the time that I almost loved you
You showed your ass and baby yes I saw the real you

Thank God you blew it
I thank God I dodged the bullet
I'm so over you
Baby good lookin' out

[Chorus:]
I wanted you bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
I said, you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
And I'll never be the (best thing you never had)
Oh baby I bet sucks to be you right now

I know you want me back
It's time to face the facts
That I'm the one that's got away
Lord knows that it would take another place, another time, another world, another life
Thank God I found the good in goodbye

[Chorus:]
I used to want you so bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
Oh you turned out to be (the best thing I never had)
And I will always be the (best thing you never had)
Ooh, best thing you never had!

I used to want you so bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
Oh you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
Ooh, I will never be the (best thing you never had)
Oh baby, I bet it sucks to be you right now

What goes around, comes back around
What goes around, comes back around
I bet it sucks to be you right now
What goes around, comes back around
I bet it sucks to be you right now
What goes around, comes back around
I bet it sucks to be you right now

Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All

Love this song.

"Mr. Know It All"

Mr. Know It All
Well ya think you know it all
But ya don't know a thing at all
Ain't it, ain't it something y'all
When somebody tells you something 'bout you
Think that they know you more than you do
So you take it down another pill to swallow

Mr. Bring Me Down
Well ya, ya like to bring me down, don't you?
But I ain't laying down, baby, I ain't goin' down
Can't nobody tell me how it's gonna be
Nobody's gonna make a fool out of me
Baby, you should know that I lead not follow

[Chorus:]
Oh you think that you know me, know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely, lonely
'Cause baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

Mr. Play Your Games
Only got yourself to blame when you want me back again
But I ain't falling back again
'Cause I'm living my truth without your lies
Let's be clear baby this is goodbye
I ain't coming back tomorrow

[Chorus:]
Oh you think that you know me, know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely, lonely
'Cause baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

[Bridge:]
So what you've got the world at your feet
And you know everything about everything
But you don't
You still think I'm coming back but baby you'll see yeah...

[Chorus:]
Oh you think that you know me, know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely, lonely
'Cause baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

Mr. Know It All
Well ya think you know it all
But ya don't know a thing at all
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

Food

I have noticed lately that I have a strange habit of taking pictures of the food I eat. Most of the time this happens in restaurants much to my family's chagrin. Although, they seem to be getting used to it, and my girls have started asking me to take pics of their food as well. So, I have all these pics of food, dishes and cocktails and nothing to do with them except subject my friends to them. Then I thought, I have this blog, so guess what? lol I am going to start posting my food pics. I know y'all are all excited. Anyway my first post is from Bonefish Grill.

Dumplings

Ahi Tuna

These two dishes we had last weekend, and they were delicious. Until, next time....

New York City - Part 8 - Final Day - Dinner/Time's Square/Home

Here I am, the last post from my trip to NYC. I know it's taken me a while but stuff just seems to get in the way and my creativeness and motivation leaves me. We walked from Ground Zero to the South Street Seaport in search of dinner and more sight seeing. We found a wonderful Cuban restaurant with a beautiful view of the seaport on the balcony. We ordered White sangrias that were delicious along with several Cuban dishes. We had a very nice meal for our final evening together in the city.

After dinner, we made our way to Time's Square. I have to admit to being completely overwhelmed by the people and the Square itself. It was beautiful and mesmerizing. I didn't want to leave. I think I stood and looked up at it all while turning for a good ten minutes. LOL I'm sure I didn't look like a tourist at all. The last pic down there is the plane that I flew in from Charlotte to Chattanooga. It was essentially a bus with wings. Although, I think a bus would have had more room. :-)

So, that pretty much wraps up the trip. It was a blast and I met some wonderful and nice ladies. J and I plan on returning back to NYC next year and visiting Zee again. I can't wait.

New York City - Part 7 - Final Day - Walk to Ground Zero

After visiting the Statue of Liberty, we all took a walk through NYC to Ground Zero. It was a beautiful day that day, and to be honest, the entire weekend's weather was almost perfect. Below are some pictures from our walk to and of Ground Zero.

The was the coolest thing. This is a guy painted and dressed up like an army man toy.

As you can see, they are still working on the site and from what the plans showed, it's going to be very nice when it's finished. I'm not sure how long I just stood there and stared, but I was really in awe of the site and what it has represented to us and our nation as a whole. I really never in my dreams thought that I would get to see it, and I am so very grateful to my girls for allowing this trip to happen. Love ya.

Next, post will be the remainder of our final full day in NYC. :-)

New York City - Part 6 - Final Day - Statue of Liberty

So, our last day in NYC. We met up with Zee and headed on over to the Statue of Liberty. It was pretty amazing. We took a boat over to the island and was able to see her up close and personal. We weren't allowed to go inside which was a little disappointing, but all in all it was pretty amazing. Here are some of our pics.

New York City - Part 5 - Night of Debauchery

After, we left the AMNH, we went to buy me some acceptable shoes for going out. lol Yes, I did not bring decent shoes to go out in and was gently persuaded, ok I was told, that I had to buy new shoes. lol They were nice shoes though and I really like them. Anyway, we stopped to eat lunch and the drinking began. I can't even remember what these drinks were but they were goooood. :)

After lunch, shopping for my new shoes and resting a bit at the apartment, we went to Sushi Samba on 7th Avenue. We started out with these drinks for our first round(I believe we had 2 rounds of them).

The meal was awesome and I guess I was too interested in what we were drinking to take any pics of the food(sorry Leo). We had a great time. Then we saw this Cocktail Rack from across the room and, of course, we had to have it. We got to chose 3 drinks and received 4 each in the Rack. 12 drinks total. I'm not sure how many I had, but I was drunk by the time we finished.

Next, we went to the G Lounge. We arrived and I don't remember much other than there was this very, very hot gogo dancer there. Dark, tattoed, unf. Anyway, here are the pics. I hope he doesn't mind me sharing them. He was extremely nice and humored us that night. Thank you, Mr. Hot GoGo Dancer. Enjoy!!

So, there it is. The Gogo dancer pics a bit blurry, but in our state, I guess we were lucky to get what we got. LOL!! And, apparently, I am so white I couldn't fix it. *snort* We took a taxi from the G Lounge back to our apartment, and I guess I just threw some money at the driver because I was so happy to make it back alive. LOLOL!!! Anyway, we had a great night and again thank you to Zee for humoring us and especially me that night. Love you two. :-)

From Beginning to End - Do Começo ao Fim

I just wanted to take a moment and mention this movie, From Beginning to End(Do Começo ao Fim), that I had ordered LAST year and finally sat down to watch. I absolutely loved it. I am not one for chick flicks, but this one, even with it moving slowly thru the story line, held my attention throughout. The ending could have been extended a bit, however, I found it to be a beautiful love story, even if it IS unconventional. It is a Brazilian film and the copy that I have had English subtitles, but honestly reading them did not take away from the film at all. The dialogue was minimal.

Plot: The film deals with two types of relationships that are often considered taboo: incest and homosexuality. The storyline tells of two half brothers who are very close when they are kids, and as they grow up an incestuous relationship develops.[4] The director, Aluizio Abranches said that his sole intention was to show a love story, regardless of conditions. - Wikipedia

Pics from the movie:

The lead actors are Rafael Cardoso and João Gabriel Vasconcellos. They are gorgeous separately and together in this film. Even though it is reported that neither actor is gay, they have amazing chemistry on the screen.

A couple of people asked me about this movie, it IS available over here now at Amazon. YAY!!

New York City - Part 4 - Central Park & American Museum of Natural History

After we left the Met, we cross through Central Park to the American Museum of Natural History. I never realized how big Central Park is in reality. I mean I've seen it on film, but it's just huge. Anyway, not too much to say so here are my pics. Enjoy!!

So, there you have it. Not very exciting, but I had a blast. Got to see a few exhibits from the movie, Night at the Museum, which my kids loved. Anyway, next post will be about our night of debauchery(as Zee calls it). LMAO.

Oh, and Leo, Alexander McQueen was a British fashion designer and couturier. There's the link for you. :-)
